Job Title:  IT Technical Trainer

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

1. Job Purpose:

The primary role of the IT Technical Trainer is to deliver high quality training to apprentices across a range of IT qualifications. You will manage and maintain all learning resources to ensure they meet the standards required by the awarding body and ensure they are pitched at the right level to be engaging and transferable to the workplace.

 

You will ensure individual learning plans and e-portfolio accounts for each learner are kept up to date to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.

 

A large proportion of students are within the 16-24 age group. Students will be from all ages and backgrounds, so under the supervision of the COO you will strive to enhance the learning environment for our learners by providing a safe and nurturing space for them to reach their individual potential.

2. Main Responsibilities:

The role of the IT Technical Trainer will include but is not necessarily limited to the following duties:

  • Delivering practical and theoretical training and facilitating accreditation's for all apprentices.

  • Curriculum development of new and existing courses.

  • Creating and updating course delivery schedules.

  • Developing and creating new and existing training material.

  • Maintaining current professional knowledge within the IT field and undertake CPD activities as required.

  • Ensuring learners are provided with a nurturing and safe environment for development.

  • Assessing learners’ progress and maintaining records of assessments carried out by learners.

  • Managing, planning, maintaining and developing the centre where you will be delivering training.

·Managing your diary efficiently to ensure timely classroom sessions.

·The support, advising and motivation of learners.

·Overcoming barriers to learning and adapt delivery to meet learner’s needs.

  • Adhering to client and company guidelines in all areas of your role.

·Promote and embed Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, British Values, Prevent and Health and Safety to all learning sessions.

·Communicate any issues or concerns about learners to your line manager and designated Safeguarding Officer as appropriate

 

Personal Development

  • Adopt a proactive approach to complying with the staff development policy in ensuring you are up to date in your occupational area(s) and adopt a best practice approach to any training and learning.

  • Ensure contract compliance in line with set targets and service delivery.

3. Required Skills and Personal Qualities:

Essential:-

  • ·Relevant IT qualifications, such as MTA’s, MCP’s, CompTIA etc

  • ·Recognised Teaching qualification, e.g. PTLLs or equivalent.

  • ·Relevant occupational competence within an IT environment.

  • Ability to create and implement high quality learning resources

  • ·Experience in IT curriculum design

  • Knowledge of the BCS apprenticeship qualifications and EPA process

  • ·Organisational skills are a must, as well as the ability to plan your time effectively.

  • ·Confident and professional with the ability to inspire and motivate people.

  • ·Quality driven and prepared to go the extra mile for your learners.

  • ·Must be an excellent communicator who is learner and quality focused.

  • ·The ability to collaborate with others and contribute towards targets.

  • ·Ability to work under pressure and deal with high workload

Desirable:-

  • A full drivers’ licence, access to own vehicle

  • Have extensive knowledge of the apprenticeship accreditation process

  • Experience of delivering Apprenticeship qualifications including Functional Skills.

Further Information

The role will be based at EMA’s training hub in Derby but may include travel to corporate conferences (in line with your role) or apprentice workplace visits.
