Please introduce yourself, the company you work for and the nature of your business.

Hi, I’m Qais Hussain, and I work at PKF Smith Cooper as a Learning & Development Executive. We’re a leading firm of accountants and business advisors based in the Midlands. We offer a variety of services, like audit, tax, corporate finance, and business advisory services to clients across different sectors.

What has surprised you about having apprentices in your business?

One of the biggest surprises has been the level of enthusiasm and fresh perspectives that apprentices bring. Their eagerness to learn and contribute has really invigorated our team and led to some innovative ideas. Additionally, the rapid skill development and strong commitment they show have exceeded our expectations, making them valuable assets to our company much sooner than we anticipated.

What impact do apprentices have on your business?

Apprentices have been a huge positive for us. They bring fresh ideas, a strong desire to learn, and a great work ethic. Many of our apprentices have progressed into permanent roles and are now integral members of our team. They help us build a sustainable talent pipeline and contribute to our culture of continuous learning and development.
